The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
I swear by the angels who violently pull out the souls of the wicked, 1 by the angels who gently release the souls of the believers, 2 And who glide with ease. 3 and yet overtake [one another] with swift overtaking: 4 Then arrange to do (the Commands of their Lord), 5 [HENCE, think of] the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world,] 6 to be followed by further [convulsions]! 7 hearts will be throbbing, 8 Unable to lift their gaze. 9 They say: “Shall we indeed be restored to life, 10 after we have become bones and dust?" 11 They will say: 'Then we are returned lost' 12 But it shall be only a single scare, 13 and behold, they are awakened. 14 Has there reached you the story of Moses? - 15 When his Lord called him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 "Go to Pharaoh. Indeed, he has transgressed. 17 and say, 'Will you reform yourself? 18 And that I guide you to your Lord, so you should fear Him? 19 Then Moses (went to Pharaoh and) showed him the Great Sign; 20 But (the Pharaoh) disavowed and disobeyed. 21 Then he turned away, deliberating, 22 And assembled (his council) and proclaimed, 23 Then he said: I am your lord, the most high. 24 So Allah seized him with the punishment of the Everlasting Life, and of this world. 25 Indeed in this is a lesson for one who fears. 26
