He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ (The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away, 1 from a blind man who had come up to him. 2 And what would make you know that he would purify himself, 3 Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him? 4 As for him who considers himself free from need (of you), 5 you eagerly attended to him -- 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 And to him who came to you eagerly 8 and in awe [of God] 9 So you leave him, and are engrossed elsewhere! 10 Not this way this is the advice. 11 and whosoever wills, shall remember it. 12 [It is recorded] in honored sheets, 13 exalted and purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 noble, pious. 16 Woe to man! What hath made him reject Allah; 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 From a (sperm) drop He created him and then determined him, 19 then eased his path for him, 20 Then He causes him to die and be buried. 21 Then when He listeth, He shall raise him to life. 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 Let man reflect on the food he eats. 24 We poured down rain abundantly, 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 then caused the grain to grow out of it, 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 And olive and palm trees 29 and dense orchards, 30 And fruits and grasses: 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise,- 33 on that Day each person will flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 38 laughing and joyful, 39 And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them, 40 with darkness overspread: 41 these, these will be the ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity! 42
God the Almighty always says the truth.
End of Surah: He Frowned ('Abasa). Sent down in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
