The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 in obedience to the commands of its Lord which are incumbent on it, (the human being will receive due recompense for his deeds). 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 He surely will receive an easy reckoning, 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 But he who is given his Book from behind his back 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 And shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste its burning. 12 Once, he lived joyfully among his family 13 for he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 But he will indeed! His Lord was ever watching him. 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 and the night, and what it [step by step] unfolds, 17 by the moon, in its fullness 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]? 20 and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. 22 Allah knows best what they are accumulating (in their Record). 23 (Muhammad), tell them that they will all suffer a painful torment 24 Except those who believe and do good; for them is a reward that shall never be cut off. 25
