Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
HaMeem. 1 CONSIDER this divine writ, clear in itself and clearly showing the truth: 2 Lo! We have appointed it a Lecture, in Arabic that haply ye may understand. 3 And indeed it is, in the Mother of the Book with Us, exalted and full of wisdom. 4 Shall We then take away the Message from you and repel (you), for that ye are a people transgressing beyond bounds? 5 And how many a prophet did We send to people of olden times! 6 And never came there unto them a prophet but they used to mock him. 7 Wherefore We destroyed peoples mightier than these in prowess; and there hath gone forth the example of the ancients. 8 If thou askest them, 'Who created the heavens and earth?' they will say, 'The All-mighty, the All-knowing created them.' 9 He it is Who made this earth for you a cradle and made in it pathways for you that you may find the way to your destination; 10 And He it is who sends down, again and again, waters from the sky in due measure: and [as] We raise therewith dead land to life, even thus will you be brought forth [from the dead]. 11 That has created pairs in all things, and has made for you ships and cattle on which ye ride, 12 In order that ye may sit firm and square on their backs, and when so seated, ye may celebrate the (kind) favour of your Lord, and say, "Glory to Him Who has subjected these to our (use), for we could never have accomplished this (by ourselves), 13 To our Lord we shall all return". 14 But they have attributed to Him from His servants a portion. Indeed, man is clearly ungrateful. 15
