Have you [Prophet] considered the man who turned away, 33 And gave little, and then stopped? 34 Has he the knowledge of the unseen so that he can see? 35 Or has he not been informed of what was in the scriptures of Moses 36 And of Abraham who fulfilled his trust? -- 37 that no bearer of burdens shall be made to bear another's burden; 38 And that man hath only that for which he maketh effort, 39 And that his effort will soon be scrutinised? 40 Then shall he be rewarded for it with the fullest reward- 41 and that the final return is to your Lord, 42 that it is He who brings laughter and tears; 43 And that it is He Who causeth to die and causeth to live. 44 It is He who has created spouses, male and female, 45 From seed when it is emitted. 46 and that [therefore] it is within His power to bring about a second life; 47 And that He it is Who enriches and gives to hold; 48 And that He (Allah) is the Lord of Sirius (the star which the pagan Arabs used to worship); 49 that it was He that destroyed ancient Aad 50 And destroyed the tribe of Thamud, not sparing anyone? 51 And before them, the people of Noah, for that they were (all) most unjust and most insolent transgressors, 52 and the Subverted City He also overthrew, 53 so that there covered it that which covered. 54 Then which of thy Lord's bounties disputest thou? 55 This [Prophet] is a warner like the former warners. 56 The Hour that was to come draws ever nearer. 57 apart from God none can disclose it. 58 Then at this statement do you wonder? 59 And you laugh at it and weep not, 60 Indulging in pleasantries? 61 So prostrate to Allah and worship [Him]. ۩ 62
