Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By (the winds) that scatter dust. 1 by the clouds which are heavily loaded with water, 2 by the ships which smoothly sail on the oceans, 3 And those that distribute and apportion by Command;- 4 Verily that which ye are promised is true; 5 and, verily, judgment is bound to come! 6 By the heaven full of paths. 7 Lo! ye, forsooth, are of various opinion (concerning the truth). 8 He is turned away from it who would be turned away. 9 Doomed are the conjecturers 10 Who are careless in an abyss! 11 asking, 'When shall be the Day of Doom?' 12 [It is] the Day they will be tormented over the Fire 13 "Taste ye your trial! This is what ye used to ask to be hastened!" 14 [But,] behold, the God-conscious will find themselves amid gardens and springs, 15 Receiving what is given them by their Lord. They were surely the virtuous before this. 16 They used to sleep but little by night [invoking their Lord (Allah) and praying, with fear and hope]. 17 And ere the dawning of each day would seek forgiveness, 18 and sharing their possessions with the beggars and the deprived. 19 On the earth are signs for those of assured Faith, 20 And within yourselves. Can you not perceive? 21 And in the heaven is your provision, and that which you are promised. 22 Then, by the Lord of heaven and earth, this is the very Truth, as much as the fact that ye can speak intelligently to each other. 23
