The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Recite in the name of your Lord Who created, 1 Createth man from a clot. 2 Read, and your Lord only is the Most Beneficent, 3 The One Who taught to write with the pen. 4 Teacheth man that which he knew not. 5 Yet man behaves arrogantly, 6 for he believes himself to be self-sufficient. 7 Surely! Unto your Lord is the return. 8 Hast thou seen him who dissuadeth 9 A bondman of Ours when he prayeth 10 Do you think he is rightly guided, 11 or enjoins true piety? 12 Hast thou seen if he denieth (Allah's guidance) and is froward? 13 Does he, then, not know that God sees [all]? 14 No indeed; if he does not desist, We shall drag him by the forelock; 15 By the lying, the sinful forelock. 16 So let him now call his gang! 17 We will call the guards of hell. 18 No, indeed; do not obey him! Prostrate and come nearer (to Allah). ۩ 19
