The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder 1 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 2 and when the earth is stretched out 3 And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty. 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 O man, you have to strive and go on striving towards your Lord, then will you meet Him. 6 Then he who is given his Record in his right hand, 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 And he shall go back to his people joyful. 9 But as for he who is given his record behind his back, 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 and he shall roast at a Blaze. 12 He used to be happy with his own people; 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 But he will indeed! His Lord was ever watching him. 15 But nay! I swear by the sunset redness, 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 And the moon when it grows full, 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]? 20 And when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance? ۩ 21 In fact, they reject the Quran, 22 and Allah knows very well what they gather. 23 Hence, give them the tiding of grievous suffering [in the life to come] 24 Except those who believe and do the right: For them there is reward unending. 25
