In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Praise be to God, who has created the heavens and the earth and brought into being darkness and light. Yet those who deny the truth set up equals to their Lord! 1 He it is Who hath created you from clay, and hath decreed a term for you. A term is fixed with Him. Yet still ye doubt! 2 although He is God in the heavens and on earth, knowing all that you keep secret as well as all that you do openly, and knowing what you deserve. 3 But never did a single one of the signs of their Lord reach them, but they turned away therefrom. 4 Surely they have belied the truth when it came unto them; so presently there cometh unto them the tidings of that whereat they have been mocking. 5 Have they not seen how many generations We destroyed before them which We had established upon the earth as We have not established you? And We sent [rain from] the sky upon them in showers and made rivers flow beneath them; then We destroyed them for their sins and brought forth after them a generation of others. 6 And had We sent down to you (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) something written on paper so that they could feel it with their hands, even then the disbelievers would have said, “This is nothing but clear magic.” 7 They say: "Why is not an angel sent down to him?" If we did send down an angel, the matter would be settled at once, and no respite would be granted them. 8 If We had made him an angel, We would have given him the resemblance of a man, and would have as such confused them with that in which they are already confused. 9 And indeed (many) Messengers were mocked before you, but their scoffers were surrounded by the very thing that they used to mock at. 10
