Said the eminent among the people of Pharaoh, "Indeed, this is a learned magician 109 who seeks to drive you from your land what do you command' 110 They said, “Stop him and his brother, and send announcers to the cities to gather people.” 111 "To bring all the wise magicians to you." 112 And the magicians came unto Fir'awn. They said: surely there is for us a reward if we are the overcomers. 113 Answered [Pharaoh]: "Yes; and verily, you shall be among those who are near unto me." 114 They said: O Moses! Either throw (first) or let us be the first throwers? 115 He replied, "Throw yours first." Their great magic bewitched people's eyes and terrified them. 116 And We inspired to Moses, "Throw your staff," and at once it devoured what they were falsifying. 117 ۞ Thus the truth was upheld, and the falsehood that they practised was exposed. 118 So the (great ones) were vanquished there and then, and were made to look small. 119 And the magicians fell down in prostration [to Allah]. 120 They said: we believe in the Lord of the worlds. 121 the Lord of Moses and Aaron.' 122 Pharaoh said: Ye believe in Him before I give you leave! Lo! this is the plot that ye have plotted in the city that ye may drive its people hence. But ye shall come to know! 123 I will certainly cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides, then will I crucify you all together. 124 They said: "Verily, we are returning to our Lord. 125 You would punish us only because we believed in the signs of our Lord when they were shown to us. Our Lord, pour patience upon us, and cause us to die in a state of submission to You." 126
