The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
The Hour of Doom is drawing near and the moon is rent asunder. 1 But if they see a Sign, they turn away, and say, "This is (but) transient magic." 2 They have cried lies, and followed their caprices; but every matter is settled. 3 And there has already come to them of information that in which there is deterrence - 4 Mature wisdom;- but (the preaching of) Warners profits them not. 5 Therefore turn away from them; on the day when the announcer will call towards a severe unknown matter – 6 They will come forth,- their eyes humbled - from (their) graves, (torpid) like locusts scattered abroad, 7 They will hasten forward to the caller, gazes fixed. And the unbelievers will say: "This is the day of untold woe." 8 ۞ [LONG] BEFORE those [who now deny resurrection] did Noah's people call it a lie; and they gave the lie to Our servant and said, "Mad is he!" - and he was repulsed. 9 He therefore prayed to his Lord, “I am overpowered, therefore avenge me.” 10 Then opened We the gates of heaven with pouring water 11 and made the earth to gush with fountains, and the waters met for a matter decreed. 12 We carried him, (Noah), on a vessel built with boards fixed together with nails, 13 Sailing in front of Our sight; as a reward for the sake of one who was rejected. 14 And indeed, We have left this as a sign, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 15 And how severe is the suffering which I inflict when My warnings are disregarded! 16 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 17 'Ad (people) belied (their Prophet, Hud), then how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 18 Verily, We sent against them a furious wind of harsh voice on a day of evil omen and continuous calamity. 19 Carrying men away as though they were trunks of palm-trees uprooted. 20 Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! 21 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 22
