The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 The event will be abasing some, and exalting some. 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 So that they shall be as scattered dust. 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 Those on the Left -- how unlucky are those on the Left! 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 a host of the ancients 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 And fruit of what they select 20 and the flesh of birds, as they desire. 21 and there shall be wide-eyed maidens, 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 and spreading shade 30 and flowing water 31 And fruits numberless, 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 on raised couches. 34 We have indeed developed these women with an excellent development. 35 So made them as maidens. 36 Lovers, friends, 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
