The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
CONSIDER those [stars] that rise only to set, 1 By the angels who release with gentle release. 2 And by those who glide along (on errands of mercy), 3 And by those that press forward as in a race (i.e. the angels or stars or the horses, etc.). 4 And by those angels who arrange to do the Commands of their Lord, (so verily, you disbelievers will be called to account). 5 On the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world], 6 Followed by the second blast, 7 Hearts on that day shall palpitate, 8 Unable to lift their gaze. 9 They shall say, 'What, are we being restored as we were before? 10 Even if we should be decayed bones? 11 They said: That then would be a return occasioning loss. 12 It will be only one scaring shout, 13 When, behold, they will be in the (full) awakening (to Judgment). 14 Hath there come unto thee the story of Musa! 15 when his Lord called him in the holy valley of Tuwa, 16 Saying: go thou unto Fir'awn; verily he hath waxen exorbitant. 17 and say [unto him,] 'Art thou desirous of attaining to purity? 18 I shall guide you to your Lord so that you may perhaps have fear of Him". 19 So he showed him the great sign, 20 but he denied it and refused [the faith]. 21 He then turned away, striving in his effort. 22 and gathered his people and declared: 23 Saying: "I am your lord, most high", 24 you pay attention 25 surely there is in this a lesson for the God-fearing. 26
