The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Woe to the diminishers, 1 who, when people measure for them, take full measure, 2 but when they have to measure or weigh whatever they owe to others, give less than what is due! 3 Do they not think they will be raised (to life) again 4 On a grievous day, 5 The Day when (all) mankind will stand before the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists)? 6 No indeed, the Book of the immoral is in Sijjeen. 7 Would that you knew what Sijin is!? 8 A Register inscribed. 9 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 10 Who give the lie to the day of judgment. 11 None denies it but the sinful transgressors. 12 When you recite Our verses to him, he says, “Stories of earlier men!” 13 No indeed! The truth is that their hearts have become rusted on account of their evil deeds. 14 Verily, from (the Light of) their Lord, that Day, will they be veiled. 15 Then indeed, they will [enter and] burn in Hellfire. 16 and be told: "This is the [very thing] to which you were wont to give the lie!" 17 But, the Book of the righteous is in the 'Illiyoon. 18 And what do you know what the Illiyoon are! 19 It is a written book, 20 which the angels placed near Allah to safeguard. 21 Truly the Righteous will be in Bliss: 22 On couches face to face. 23 and in their faces you shall know the radiance of bliss. 24 They shall be given to drink of a wine that is sealed, 25 its seal is musk, for this let the competitors compete; 26 a wine whose mixture is Tasnim, 27 a fountain at which do drink those brought nigh. 28 Indeed, those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed. 29 And winked at one another as they passed by them; 30 And when they returned to their household they returned jesting. 31 and when they saw the believers, they said: “Lo! These are the erring ones”; 32 But they had not been sent as keepers over them! 33 so today those who believe shall [be able to] laugh at those who denied the truth 34 as they sit on couches, gazing around. 35 Have the unbelievers been rewarded what they were doing? 36
