The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the Star when it plunges, 1 Your Companion is neither astray nor being misled. 2 Neither does he speak of his own will. 3 It is but a revelation revealed. 4 and taught to him 5 One strong of make. Then he stood straight. 6 the strong one who appeared on the uppermost horizon. 7 then came down close 8 Until a space of two bow (arcs) or even less remained, 9 So did (Allah) convey the Inspiration to His slave [Muhammad SAW through Jibrael (Gabriel)]. 10 The (Prophet's) heart lied not (in seeing) what he (Muhammad SAW) saw. 11 Are you, then, going to contend with him regarding what he sees with his eyes? 12 And verily he saw him yet another time 13 Near the lote-tree of the last boundary. 14 by the Garden of [Eternal] Repose, 15 When that which covers covered the lote-tree; 16 The sight did not shift, nor did it cross the limits. 17 truly did he see some of the most profound of his Sustainer's symbols. 18 So have you considered al-Lat and al-'Uzza? 19 and, another, the third manat? 20 Shall you have the male issues, and He the female issues? 21 That is indeed an unfair division! 22 They are not but [mere] names you have named them - you and your forefathers - for which Allah has sent down no authority. They follow not except assumption and what [their] souls desire, and there has already come to them from their Lord guidance. 23 Or shall man have whatever he fancies? 24 To Allah belong both the Next World and the present. 25
