The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 And you shall be three sorts. 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 They will recline on jewelled couches 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 They will be served by immortal boys, 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 And meat of birds that they may wish. 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 Except the saying, “Peace, peace.” 26 And those on the Right Hand, Who will be those on the Right Hand? 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 and serried acacias, 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 We have made them virgins, 36 Lovers, friends, 37 like of age for the Companions of the Right. 38
