By the (angels) who tear out (the souls of the wicked) with violence; 1 and those that draw out violently, 2 By the angels who glide swimmingly, 3 Then those who are foremost going ahead, 4 and by those who regulate events. 5 The day on which the quaking one shall quake, 6 Followed by oft-repeated (commotions): 7 hearts will undergo terrible trembling, 8 Their eyes humbled. 9 [And yet,] some say: "What! Are we indeed to be restored to our former state 10 Even if we should be decayed bones? 11 They say: "It would, in that case, be a return with loss!" 12 But all it will take is a single blast, 13 And lo! they will be awakened. 14 HAS THE STORY of Moses ever come within thy ken. 15 When his Lord called him in the holy valley of Tuwa. 16 Go to Fir'aun (Pharaoh), verily, he has transgressed all bounds (in crimes, sins, polytheism, disbelief, etc.). 17 And say, "Hast thou the will to purify thyself; 18 that I might guide you to your Lord, so that you fear (Him)." 19 So he showed him the greater sign; 20 In response, he denied and disobeyed. 21 Then he turned his back, striving. 22 Then he gathered and cried aloud, 23 And then said, “I am your most supreme lord.” 24 So God seized him with the chastisement of the Last World and the First. 25 Indeed in this is a lesson for one who fears. 26
