The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
(Muhammad), read in the name of your Lord who created (all things). 1 created man out of a germ-cell 2 Recite! Your Lord is the most Honorable One, 3 Who taught by the pen - 4 Has taught man that which he knew not. 5 No indeed; surely Man waxes insolent, 6 Because he considers himself self-sufficient. 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the returning. 8 Bethinkest thou him who forbiddeth, 9 A bondman of Ours when he prayeth 10 Do you think he is rightly guided, 11 Or enjoineth piety? 12 Hast thou considered whether he may [not] be giving the lie to the truth and turning his back [upon it]? 13 does he not know that Allah sees? 14 Yes certainly, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock. 15 The lying, sinful forelock - 16 So let him call his associates, 17 We also shall call the infernal guards. 18 Nay, pay thou no heed to him, but prostrate thyself [before God] and draw close [unto Him]! ۩ 19
True are the words of God the Almighty.
