Think not God is oblivious of the deeds of the wicked. He has only allowed them respite till the Day on which all eyes would stare aghast, 42 They will hurry on in fright, their heads lifted up, their gaze directed forward, their minds utterly void. 43 And warn the people of a day when the punishment will come upon them, therefore the unjust will say, “O our Lord! Give us respite for a little while – for us to obey Your call and follow the Noble Messengers”; (It will be said) “So had you not sworn before that, ‘We have not to move to any place else from the earth’?” 44 And you dwelt in the dwelling-places of those who wronged themselves, and it became clear to you how We did with them, and how We struck similitudes for you. 45 And of a surety they plotted their plot, and with Allah was their plot, though their plot was such as to remove thereby mountains. 46 So, do not think, (O Prophet), that Allah will go back upon His promise to His Messengers. Surely Allah is Mighty, Lord of retribution. 47 On the day when the earth and the heavens will be replaced by another earth and heavens and everyone will be brought before the One Almighty God, 48 you will see the guilty ones bound in chains, 49 Their shirts made of pitch and the fire covering their faces 50 Allah will recompense each soul according to its earnings. Swift is the Reckoning of Allah. 51 This (Quran) is a Message for mankind (and a clear proof against them), in order that they may be warned thereby, and that they may know that He is the only One Ilah (God - Allah) - (none has the right to be worshipped but Allah), and that men of understanding may take heed. 52
