The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the Mount, 1 And a Scripture inscribed 2 In an outstretched fine parchment, 3 by the Visited House, 4 and the uplifted roof 5 and by the swelling ocean, 6 Verily the torment of thine Lord is sure to befalls 7 none can avert that. 8 A day on which the heavens will shake with a visible shaking. 9 And the mountains will move away with a (horrible) movement. 10 Will be the day of woe for those 11 and who indulged in false disputes against (God's revelations). 12 That Day shall they be thrust down to the Fire of Hell, irresistibly. 13 "This is the fire which you were wont to call a lie! 14 Is it magic then or do you not see? 15 Roast therein; endure it or endure it not, thereof it is equal unto you. Ye are only being requited for that which ye have been working. 16 Surely those who guard (against evil) shall be in gardens and bliss 17 Enjoying what their Lord has given them, and their Lord protected them from the punishment of Hellfire. 18 (It will be said): 'Eat and drink with a good appetite because of that which you did' 19 They will be reclining on thrones lined up, and We will marry them to fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes. 20 And those who believed, and whose progeny also followed them in their faith, will be united with their offspring. We will not deprive them of their labour in the least. Every man is bound to what he does. 21 And We will aid them with fruit and flesh such as they desire. 22 There they will pass a goblet to one another with neither idle talk nor sin, 23 ۞ and there go round them youths, their own, as if they were hidden pearls. 24 And they will advance unto each other asking questions. 25 'When we were among our people' they will say, 'we were ever fearful, 26 but Allah has been gracious to us and has protected us from the punishment of the burning wind. 27 Verily we were wont to pray unto Him aforetime; verily He! it is He, the Benign, the Merciful. 28
