These (people of the right hand) consist of many from the ancient 39 and a good many of later times. 40 And those on the Left Hand Who will be those on the Left Hand? 41 [They will be] in scorching fire and scalding water 42 And in the shades of Black Smoke: 43 Neither cool nor agreeable. 44 and before that they lived at ease, 45 and persisted in heinous sins. 46 And they used to say: What! when we die and have become dust and bones, shall we then indeed be raised? 47 "(We) and our fathers of old?" 48 Say (unto them, O Muhammad): Lo! those of old and those of later time 49 Will all be brought together to the tryst of an appointed day. 50 "Then moreover, verily, you the erring-ones, the deniers (of Resurrection)! 51 shall all eat from the Tree of al-Zaqqum, 52 and fill your bellies with it, 53 and on top of this you will drink boiling water 54 like a thirsty camel". 55 This shall be their hospitality on the Day of Doom. 56 We created you; therefore why will you not believe? 57 Do ye then see?- The (human Seed) that ye throw out,- 58 did you create it or did We? 59 We have decreed death among you, and We are not to be outdone 60 that We may exchange the likes of you, and make you to grow again in a fashion you know not. 61 And ye certainly know already the first form of creation: why then do ye not celebrate His praises? 62 Have you ever considered the seed which you cast upon the soil? 63 Is it ye who foster it, or are We the Fosterer? 64 We could turn it, if We pleased, into straw; then you would rue the day, 65 That, “We have indeed been penalised!” 66 Nay, but we have been deprived [of our livelihood]!" 67 See ye the water which ye drink? 68 Do you send it down from the clouds, or We send it down? 69 If We will We can make it bitter, so why do you not give thanks? 70 Have you thought about the fire that you kindle. 71 Is it you who grew its tree, or is it We Who create? 72 We made it a reminder and a provision for the needy. 73 (Muhammad), glorify your Lord, the Great One. 74
