The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky is torn apart, 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 His account shall presently be taken by an easy reckoning. 8 And he shall return unto his people joyfully. 9 But he who is given the Record behind his back, 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 Indeed he used to rejoice in his home. 13 thinking he would never revert (to Us). 14 Yea indeed! His Sustainer did see all that was in him! 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 by the night and what it covers, 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 that you shall surely ride from stage to stage. 19 But what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance? ۩ 21 Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. 22 God is quite aware of what they are storing in their hearts. 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 Except those who believe and do good; for them is a reward that shall never be cut off. 25
