Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has the news of the overwhelming event reached you? 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 Laboring, toiling, 3 They will suffer the heat of the blazing fire 4 The while they are given, to drink, of a boiling hot spring, 5 no food for them except thorny plants 6 that will neither nourish nor satisfy their hunger. 7 (Other) faces, that Day, will be joyful, 8 Rejoicing over their efforts. 9 In a lofty Paradise. 10 where they will hear no idle talk, 11 Therein shall be a spring running! 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 And chosen goblets. 14 And cushions ranged! 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created? 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 and on the mountains, how they are firmly set up, 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 Therefore remind, you are only a Reminder. 21 You are not a watcher over them; 22 But he who turns his back, and disbelieves, 23 God shall chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Lo! unto Us is their return 25 Then surely upon Us is the taking of their account. 26
God the Almighty always says the truth.
