۞ To Abraham We gave the right guidance and We knew him very well. 51 He said to his father and to his nation: 'What, are these the statues to which you cling' 52 They said, "We found our fathers worshippers of them." 53 He said: "Indeed you and your fathers have been in manifest error." 54 They said, "Have you brought us the Truth, or are you one of those who jest?" 55 He said: "Nay, but your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth which He created and to that I bear witness before you. 56 And by Allah I shall surely devise a plot against your idols after ye turned away backward. 57 He broke all the idols into pieces, except the biggest among them so that perhaps people would refer to it. 58 "Who has done this to our deities? He must be a wrongdoer." 59 Some among them said, “We heard a youth speak ill of them – the one called Ibrahim.” 60 Said they: Then bring him before the eyes of the people, perhaps they may bear witness. 61 They said, “Did you do this to our Gods, O Ibrahim?” 62 Said he, “Rather, their chief may have done it; so question them, if they can speak.” 63 So they returned one to another, and they said, 'Surely it is you who are the evildoers.' 64 And they were utterly confounded, and they said: Well thou knowest that these speak not. 65 He said, 'What, and do you serve, apart from God, that which profits you nothing; neither hurts you? 66 "Fie upon you, and upon that which you worship besides Allah! Have you then no sense?" 67 They said, "Burn him and help your deities, if you are resolved to do something." 68 We said: O fire! be thou cool and peace unto Ibrahim. 69 They desired to outwit him; so We made them the worse losers, 70 And We rescued him and Lout (Lot) to the land which We have blessed for the 'Alamin (mankind and jinns). 71 And We bestowed upon him Isaac and Jacob as an additional gift, making each of them righteous. 72 And We made them into leaders to guide people in accordance with Our command, and We inspired them to good works, and to establish Prayers and to give Zakah. They worshipped Us alone. 73 To Lot We gave knowledge and wisdom and saved him from the people of the town who were committing indecent acts. They were certainly a bad and sinful people. 74 And We took him into Our mercy; surely he was of the good. 75
