The Companions of the Wood rejected the messengers. 176 when their brother Shu'ayb said unto them: "Will you not be conscious of God? 177 Surely I am a faithful apostle to you; 178 Have fear of God and obey me. 179 I ask of you no recompense for this; my reward is only with the Lord of the Universe. 180 ۞ Fill up the measure, and be not cheaters, 181 And weigh with the true balance. 182 and do not deliver short, and do not go about creating mischief in the land, 183 And fear He who created you and the former creation." 184 They replied, "You are bewitched. 185 you are only a mortal like us. Indeed we believe that you are an utter liar. 186 "Now cause a piece of the sky to fall on us, if thou art truthful!" 187 He said, “My Lord is Well Aware of what you do.” 188 But they belied him, then the punishment of the Day of Shadow (raining fire) seized them. Truly, it was the punishment of a dreadful day. 189 Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 190 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 191
