These (people of the right hand) consist of many from the ancient 39 and a throng of the later folk. 40 Those on the Left: how unfortunate are those on the Left! 41 (they shall live) amid burning winds and boiling water, 42 and the shadow of a smoking blaze 43 [shadows] neither cooling nor soothing. 44 Indeed they were, before that, indulging in affluence, 45 and they persisted obstinately in awful sin, 46 and constantly said: 'What, when we are dead and become dust and bones, shall we then be restored to life? 47 Or our fathers of yore? 48 Say (O Muhammad SAW): "(Yes) verily, those of old, and those of later times. 49 "All will certainly be gathered together for the meeting appointed for a Day well-known. 50 Then lo! ye, the erring, the deniers, 51 "Ye will surely taste of the Tree of Zaqqum. 52 "Then will ye fill your insides therewith, 53 "And drink Boiling Water on top of it: 54 drink it as the most insatiably thirsty camels drink!" 55 That will be their entertainment on the Day of Recompense! 56 We have created you, so why do you not believe? 57 So what is your opinion regarding the semen you discharge? 58 Did you create it, or are We the Creator? 59 We have incorporated death in your constitution, and We shall not be hindered 60 that We will change you and cause you to grow again in a way you do not know. 61 And assuredly ye have fully known the first production wherefore heed ye not? 62 Have you thought about what crops you plant? 63 Is it ye who foster it, or are We the Fosterer? 64 [For,] were it Our will, We could indeed turn it into chaff, and you would be left to wonder [and to lament,] 65 [Saying], "Indeed, we are [now] in debt; 66 nay, we are deprived [altogether]." 67 Have you considered the water which you drink? 68 Is it you that send it down from the clouds, or are We the senders? 69 If We pleased, We would have made it salty; why do you not then give thanks? 70 Have you seen the fire which you kindle? 71 Is it you who have produced its tree or is it We who have produced it? 72 We have made it to be a reminder and a benefit for the wayfarers. 73 (Muhammad), glorify your Lord, the Great One. 74
