In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
O you wrapped in garments (i.e. Prophet Muhammad SAW)! 1 stand up to pray for much of the night. 2 Half of it,- or a little less, 3 and recite the Quran in a distinct tone; 4 We are about to cast upon you a weighty Word. 5 surely the first part of the night is heavier in tread, more upright in speech, 6 surely in the day thou hast long business. 7 And remember the Name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with a complete devotion. 8 (He is) Lord of the East and the West: there is no god but He: take Him therefore for (thy) Disposer of Affairs. 9 Bear patiently whatever they say, do not yield to them and keep on preaching decently to them. 10 And let Me alone with the beliers, owners of ease: and respite thou them a little. 11 We have fetters (for them) and a blazing fire, 12 And food that chokes and a painful punishment, 13 On the day the earth and mountains will rock violently, and the mountains turn to a heap of poured-out sand. 14 Lo! We have sent unto you a messenger as witness against you, even as We sent unto Pharaoh a messenger. 15 But Pharaoh disobeyed the messenger, so We seized him with a ruinous seizure. 16 How, then, if you refuse to acknowledge the truth, will you protect yourselves on that Day which shall turn the hair of children grey, 17 The heaven shall rend asunder thereby; His promise is ever brought to fulfillment. 18 This, verily, is a reminder: let him who wills, then set out on a way to his Sustainer! 19
