The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O the Cloaked One! (Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) 1 Arise and warn 2 And your Lord glorify 3 And thine raiment purify. 4 And all defilement shun! 5 Nor expect, in giving, any increase (for thyself)! 6 But for your Lord be patient. 7 And when the trumpet is blown, 8 Truly, that Day will be a Hard Day. 9 It will not be easy for those who deny the truth. 10 Leave Me alone [to deal] with him whom I have created alone, 11 And to whom I granted extensive wealth 12 And sons present by his side. 13 whose life I have made run smoothly 14 and yet, he greedily desires that I give yet more! 15 By no means; he is stubbornly opposed to Our Signs. 16 I shall oblige him to (climb a slippery mountain in the Hell-fire called As-Sa'ud, or to) face a severe torment! 17 Verily, he thought and plotted; 18 So may he be destroyed [for] how he deliberated. 19 May be then be accursed, how he plotted! 20 Then he looked around, 21 frowned and scowled; 22 Then he turned back and was arrogant 23 And said: "This is nothing but the magic of old, 24 This is naught else than speech of mortal man. 25 I shall make him suffer the torment of hell. 26 And what could make thee conceive what hell-fire is? 27 It lets nothing remain and leaves nothing [unburned], 28 and it burns the flesh. 29 over it are nineteen. 30 And We have not made the wardens of the fire others than angels, and We have not made their number but as a trial for those who disbelieve, that those who have been given the book may be certain and those who believe may increase in faith, and those who have been given the book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the unbelievers may say: What does Allah mean by this parable? Thus does Allah make err whom He pleases, and He guides whom He pleases, and none knows the hosts of your Lord but He Himself; and this is naught but a reminder to the mortals. 31
