The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Has there not been over Man a long period of Time, when he was nothing - (not even) mentioned? 1 Verily, it is We who have created man out of a drop of sperm intermingled, so that We might try him [in his later life]: and therefore We made him a being endowed with hearing and sight. 2 Indeed, We guided him to the way, be he grateful or be he ungrateful. 3 Indeed, We have prepared for the disbelievers chains and shackles and a blaze. 4 Verily, the Abrar (pious, who fear Allah and avoid evil), shall drink a cup (of wine) mixed with water from a spring in Paradise called Kafur. 5 The Kafoor is a spring, from which the chosen bondmen of Allah will drink, causing it to flow wherever they wish inside their palaces. 6 They [are those who] fulfill [their] vows and fear a Day whose evil will be widespread. 7 And they give food, inspite of their love for it (or for the love of Him), to Miskin (poor), the orphan, and the captive, 8 [Saying], "We feed you only for the countenance of Allah. We wish not from you reward or gratitude. 9 Lo! we fear from our Lord a day of frowning and of fate. 10 So God has guarded them from the evil of that day, and has procured them radiancy and gladness, 11 and recompensed them for their patience with a Garden, and silk; 12 There they will recline on elevated couches and will be subjected neither to the burning heat of the sun nor to bitter cold. 13 Near them shall be its shades with its clusters hung gently down, 14 And brought round amongst them will be vessels of silver and also goblets of glass. 15 And crystal clear bottles of silver, of which they will determine the measure themselves. 16 And they shall be given to drink from a cup whose mixture is ginger, 17 A fountain there, called Salsabil. 18 ۞ And round about them shall go youths never altering in age; when you see them you will think them to be scattered pearls. 19 When you look around, you will see delights and great dominion. 20 Upon them there will be garments of green silk, rich brocade, and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver. Their Lord will give them a pure beverage to drink. 21 "This in truth is your recompense, and acceptance of your endeavours." 22
