The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 Yes, indeed, before long they will learn all about it. 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 And We made the night to be a covering, 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 and We have set therein a glowing lamp. 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 In order to produce grain and plants with it. 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, 19 And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance. 20 Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink 24 save boiling water and pus 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 But all things We have enumerated in writing. 29 'Taste! We shall increase you not save in chastisement.' 30
