Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Have you heard about the Overwhelming Event? 1 Faces on that Day shall be downcast, 2 labouring, toilworn, 3 The while they enter the Blazing Fire,- 4 given to drink from a boiling spring. 5 No food shall be theirs save bitter thorn, 6 which gives no strength and neither stills hunger. 7 However, on that day the faces of other people will be happy. 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 in a garden sublime, 10 Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood, 11 There is a stream of running water in it; 12 and couches raised high, 13 and prepared goblets, 14 And cushions ranged 15 and outspread carpets. 16 Do they not then ponder how the clouds were formed; 17 And the heaven, how it is reared aloft, 18 And the mountains, how they are firmly fixed, 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish. 21 You are not a watcher over them; 22 Except whoever turns away and disbelieves – 23 So Allah will mete out to him the greatest punishment. 24 for behold, unto Us will be their return, 25 Then indeed, upon Us is their account. 26
