The News (Al-Naba')
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 About the great tidings! 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 Indeed they will come to know soon; 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 And We have created you in pairs, 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 and the night as a cover, 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 Surely the day of decision is (a day) appointed: 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 and heaven is opened, having gates, 19 The mountains put in motion turning into a mirage. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 Living therein for ages. 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 except boiling water and pus 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30
