The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Proclaim! (or read!) in the name of thy Lord and Cherisher, Who created- 1 Has created man from a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood). 2 Recite: and your Lord is Most Generous, 3 He Who taught (the use of) the pen,- 4 Has taught man that which he knew not. 5 And yet, but yet man is rebellious, 6 Because he considers himself self-sufficient. 7 Verily unto thy Lord is the return. 8 Have you seen him who forbids 9 a servant (of Allah) when he prays? 10 What is your opinion – if he were upon guidance, 11 and enjoins piety? 12 Seest thou if he denies (Truth) and turns away? 13 does he not know that Allah sees? 14 Indeed, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock, 15 A forelock, lying, sinning. 16 So let him now call his gang! 17 We will call the guards of hell. 18 Nay! (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him))! Do not obey him (Abu Jahl). Fall prostrate and draw near to Allah! ۩ 19
True are the words of God the Almighty.
