۞ [And God will thus command:] "Assemble all those who were bent on evildoing, together with others of their ilk and [with] all that they were wont to worship 22 Other than God," (the angels will be told), "then show them the way to Hell, 23 And detain them, for they will be questioned." 24 "'What is the matter with you that ye help not each other?'" 25 In fact this day they have all surrendered. 26 and advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 27 They will say: "It was you who used to come to us from the right side [i.e. from the right side of one of us and beautify for us every evil, order us for polytheism, and stop us from the truth i.e. Islamic Monotheism and from every good deed]." 28 Others will respond, "It was you who did not want to have any faith. 29 "And we had no authority over you. Nay! But you were transgressing people (disobedient, polytheists, and disbelievers). 30 "So now has been proved true, against us, the word of our Lord that we shall indeed (have to) taste (the punishment of our sins). 31 So we led you astray, for we ourselves were erring. 32 On that Day they will all share the punishment: 33 Verily that is how We shall deal with Sinners. 34 When they were told, "There is no deity but God," they turned away with disdain, 35 And (they) said: "Are we going to abandon our aliha (gods) for the sake of a mad poet? 36 Rather, the Prophet has come with the truth and confirmed the [previous] messengers. 37 you shall surely taste the painful punishment, 38 But it will be no more than the retribution of (the Evil) that ye have wrought;- 39 But the sincere (and devoted) Servants of Allah,- 40 For them is the sustenance known to Us. 41 as the fruits [of their life on earth]; and honoured shall they be 42 In gardens of delight, 43 On couches facing one another; 44 Cups of wine will be presented to them in rounds, from a spring flowing in front of them. 45 delicious to those who drink it 46 Wherein there is no headache nor are they made mad thereby. 47 And with them maidens of modest look and large lustrous eyes, 48 (Delicate and pure) as if they were (hidden) eggs (well) preserved. 49 Then they will turn to one another and question one another. 50 And a speaker from among them will say: verily there was unto me a mate. 51 Who used to say: "Are you among those who believe (in resurrection after death). 52 When we are dead and turned to dust and bones, shall we be recompensed?" 53 He says, 'Are you looking down?' 54 He looked down and saw him in the midst of the Fire. 55 'By Allah' he will say, 'you almost destroyed me! 56 And had it not been for the favour of my Lord, I too had been of those haled forth (to doom). 57 (Allah informs about that true believer that he said): "Are we then not to die (any more)? 58 Save our first death, and are we not to be tormented? 59 Truly, this is the supreme success! 60 for the like of this let the workers work.' 61 Is this not a better reward than the tree of Zaqqum 62 We have made this tree a trial for the wrong-doers. 63 It is a tree that grows in the nethermost part of Hell. 64 Its crop is as it were the heads of devils 65 and they [who are lost in evil] are indeed bound to eat thereof, and to fill their bellies therewith. 66 On top of it they shall have a brew of boiling water, 67 Then indeed, their return will be to the Hellfire. 68 They found their fathers in error, 69 and [now] they make haste to follow in their footsteps! 70 And truly before them, many of the ancients went astray;- 71 And We had sent admonishers to them. 72 See then the end of those who were warned, 73 Save the bondmen of Allah sincere. 74
