The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is split asunder, 1 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 and casts out all that is within it and becomes empty; 4 obeying its Lord, as it must do! 5 O man, having striven hard towards your Lord, you shall meet Him: 6 Then as to him who shall be given his book in his right hand 7 His account shall presently be taken by an easy reckoning. 8 and shall return to his people joyfully. 9 But whoso is given his account behind his back, 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 They lived among their people joyfully 13 for he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 you will progress from stage to stage. 19 So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe, 20 and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Yea those who disbelieve belie. 22 God is quite aware of what they are storing in their hearts. 23 So announce to them a painful torment. 24 But for those who believe and do good works; for them there shall be a never-ending reward. 25
