Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Has the story reached thee of the overwhelming (Event)? 1 Faces on that day humbled, 2 Working [hard] and exhausted. 3 roasting at a scorching Fire 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 They will have no food other than bitter and thorny fruit 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 Many faces will be joyous on that day, 8 Well-pleased because of their striving, 9 They will live in an exalted garden 10 hearing there no babble; 11 A gushing fountain shall be there 12 Wherein are couches raised 13 and prepared goblets, 14 and arranged cushions 15 and carpets outspread. 16 Will they not then consider the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 And at the mountains - how they are erected? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Therefore remind, you are only a Reminder. 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 But whoever turns back and denies the truth, 23 God will punish them with the greatest torment. 24 Certainly, it is to Us that they will return. 25 Then verily on Us is their reckoning. 26
