(Muhammad), do not think that God is unaware of what the unjust people do. He only gives them a respite until the day when the eyes will stare fixedly, 42 when they shall run with their necks outstretched and heads erect, their glances never return to themselves, their hearts are empty. 43 So warn mankind of the Day when the Wrath will reach them: then will the wrong-doers say: "Our Lord! respite us (if only) for a short term: we will answer Thy call, and follow the messengers!" "What! were ye not wont to swear aforetime that ye should suffer no decline? 44 And you lived among the dwellings of those who wronged themselves, and it had become clear to you how We dealt with them. And We presented for you [many] examples." 45 Indeed the unbelievers contrived their plan, but it is in Allah's power to nullify their plan, even though their plans were such that would move even mountains. 46 You must not even think that God will disregard His promise to His messengers. God is Majestic and Revengeful. 47 On the day when the earth will be changed to other than this earth, and the heavens – and they will all come forth standing before Allah, the One, the Dominant above all. 48 And thou shalt see the sinners that day coupled in fetters, 49 Their raiment of pitch, and the Fire covering their faces, 50 that God may recompense every soul for its earnings; surely God is swift at the reckoning. 51 This [Qur'an] is notification for the people that they may be warned thereby and that they may know that He is but one God and that those of understanding will be reminded. 52
