The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness] 1 And when the stars fall, dispersing, 2 The mountains made to move, 3 And when the she-camels big with young shall be abandoned, 4 when the savage beasts shall be mustered, 5 When the oceans surge and swell, 6 and when all human beings are coupled [with their deeds,] 7 questions are asked about the baby girls buried alive, 8 For what crime she was put to death; 9 And when the books are spread, 10 when the sky is unveiled, 11 when Hell shall be set blazing, 12 And when the Garden is brought nigh, 13 then shall each person know what he has brought along. 14 I swear by the receding stars. 15 And by the planets that move swiftly and hide themselves, 16 The closing night, 17 And by the dawn as it brightens; 18 Verily this is the word of a most honourable Messenger, 19 of power, given a rank by the Owner of the Throne 20 (One) to be obeyed, and trustworthy; 21 Your companion is not one possessed: 22 And without doubt he saw him in the clear horizon. 23 And he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) withholds not a knowledge of the unseen. 24 Nor is this the word of an outcast devil. 25 Then where are you going? 26 It is nothing but Good Counsel for everyone in the world, 27 for everyone of you who wishes to follow the Straight Way; 28 And ye will not, unless (it be) that Allah willeth, the Lord of Creation. 29
