The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 whereon they are at variance. 3 Nay, but in time they will come to understand [it]! 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 And We have made the night a covering. 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 And built seven strong roofs above you. 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 and have sent down out of the rainclouds water cascading 14 so that We might bring forth thereby grain, and herbs, 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 Where they will remain for aeons, 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 and persistently rejected Our revelations. 28 And everything We have recorded in a book. 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30
