He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because a blind man came to him. 2 You never know. Perhaps he wanted to purify himself, 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 As for him who regardeth himself self-sufficient 5 to him didst thou give thy whole attention, 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 And to him who came to you eagerly 8 and in awe [of God] 9 From him will you divert yourself. 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 and whosoever wills, shall remember it. 12 It is contained in scrolls highly honoured, 13 Exalted (in dignity), purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Noble and dutiful. 16 Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he. 17 Of what did He create him? 18 Of a sperm-drop He created him, and determined him, 19 Then He makes the Path easy for him; 20 then He caused him to die and brought him to the grave, 21 Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life. 22 Certainly, he has not duly fulfilled His commands. 23 So let man just consider his food: 24 We let the rain pour down in torrents 25 and let the earth to break open 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 grapes, vegetables, 28 And olive and palm trees 29 and dense-tree'd gardens, 30 And fruit and grass - 31 Provision for you and your cattle. 32 But, when the Blast comes, 33 upon the day when a man shall flee from his brother, 34 and from his mother and father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. 37 Some faces that Day will be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news; 39 but some faces will be covered with dust 40 Blackness overcoming them. 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
