The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun shall be wound round, 1 the stars are made to fade away, 2 And when the mountains shall made to pass away; 3 And when the camels are left untended, 4 The wild beasts stampede on the run, 5 And when the seas are filled with flame 6 and when all human beings are coupled [with their deeds,] 7 When the female (infant), buried alive, is questioned - 8 such as, "For what crime were they murdered?" 9 when the scrolls shall be unrolled, 10 and when heaven is laid bare, 11 And when Hellfire is set ablaze 12 and Paradise brought nigh: 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 But nay! I swear by the stars, 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 And the Night as it dissipates; 17 And the Dawn as it breathes away the darkness;- 18 That this is in truth the word of an honoured messenger, 19 endowed with power and held in honour by the Lord of the Throne -- 20 Obeyed and worthy there of trust. 21 Your companion is not one possessed: 22 He had surely seen Him on the clear horizon. 23 And this Prophet is not miserly upon the hidden. (Allah gave the knowledge of the hidden to the Holy Prophet – peace and blessings be upon him.) 24 Nor is it the word of the cursed Shaitan, 25 Whither then go ye? 26 This is nothing but a Reminder to the worlds, 27 (With profit) to whoever among you wills to go straight: 28 And ye will not, unless (it be) that Allah willeth, the Lord of Creation. 29
