The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is split asunder, 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 And when the earth shall be stretched forth. 3 And has cast out all that was in it and became empty, 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 His account shall presently be taken by an easy reckoning. 8 And he shall go back to his people joyful. 9 But as for he who is given his record behind his back, 10 He surely will invoke destruction 11 And be thrown to scorching fire. 12 Indeed he used to rejoice in his home. 13 He verily deemed that he would never return (unto Allah). 14 But he will indeed! His Lord was ever watching him. 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 And the night and that which it drives on, 17 And by the moon when she becometh full. 18 [even thus, O men,] are you bound to move; onward from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them that they do not accept faith? 20 And when the Qur’an is recited to them, they do not fall prostrate? (Command of Prostration # 13) ۩ 21 In fact the disbelievers keep denying. 22 And Allah knows best what they hide, 23 So give them tidings of a painful punishment, 24 Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail. 25
