The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Recite in the name of your Lord who created - 1 created man out of a germ-cell 2 Proclaim! And thy Lord is Most Bountiful,- 3 The One Who taught to write with the pen. 4 taught the human what he did not know. 5 No indeed; surely Man waxes insolent, 6 because he thinks that he is independent. 7 Verily, to thy Lord is the return (of all). 8 Did you see him who forbids 9 A votary when he (turns) to pray? 10 Have you thought, if he had been on guidance 11 or bade to godfearing -- 12 Have you seen if he denies and turns away - 13 Did he not realise that Allah is watching? 14 By no means! If he desist not We shall seize and deal him by the forelock 15 the lying, rebellious forehead! 16 Then let him summon his council, 17 We shall call on the guards of Hell. 18 Nay! (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him))! Do not obey him (Abu Jahl). Fall prostrate and draw near to Allah! ۩ 19
