O apostles! eat of the good things and do good; surely I know what you do. 51 This community of yours is one community, and I am your Lord; so hold Me alone in fear. 52 But people have cut off their affair (of unity), between them, into sects: each party rejoices in that which is with itself. 53 So leave them in their error for a time. 54 What, do they think that We succour them with of wealth and children, 55 Are quickly giving them goodness? In fact, they do not know. 56 Surely they who from fear of their Lord are cautious, 57 who have full faith in the Signs of their Lord; 58 Who do not associate any one with their Lord, 59 And those who give what they give and their hearts fear for they have to return to their Lord. 60 it is they who vie with one another in doing good works and shall be the foremost in doing so. 61 We charge not any soul save to its capacity, and with Us is a Book speaking truth, and they shall not be wronged. 62 Yet their hearts are oblivious of this; and besides, they are busy with other things, 63 Till, when We seize with the chastisement the ones of them that live at ease, behold, they groan. 64 “Do not implore this day; you will not be helped by Us.” 65 Time and again were My messages conveyed unto you, but [every time] you would turn about on your heels 66 behaving arrogantly, and making fun, and talking nonsense (about the Book in your nightly chats)." 67 Have they not pondered over the word of God? Has something come to them that did not come to their forefathers? 68 Or did you not recognize your Messenger and, thus, denied him (Muhammad) 69 Or do they say, 'He is bedevilled'? Nay, he has brought them the truth, but most of them are averse from the truth. 70 And if the truth had been in accordance with their desires, verily, the heavens and the earth, and whosoever is therein would have been corrupted! Nay, We have brought them their reminder, but they turn away from their reminder. 71 Or, do you ask a tribute from them? Your Lord's tribute is better. He is the Best of providers. 72 Assuredly thou art calling them to a straight path; 73 but, behold, those who will not believe in the life to come are bound to deviate from that way. 74 ۞ Were We to be merciful to them and remove from them their present afflictions, they would persist in their transgression, blindly wandering on. 75 And already We overtook them with chastisement, but they were not submissive to their Lord, nor do they humble themselves. 76 until We open before them a gate of harsh punishment and then they will be dumbfounded. 77
