Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Ha. Mim. 1 By the Book that makes things clear,- 2 We have made it an Arabic Koran in order that you understand. 3 And verily, it is in the Mother of the Book, in Our Presence, high (in dignity), full of wisdom. 4 Shall We utterly ignore you because ye are a wanton folk? 5 Many a prophet had We sent to the earlier communities, 6 But there would not come to them a prophet except that they used to ridicule him. 7 So We destroyed (them)- stronger in power than these;- and (thus) has passed on the Parable of the peoples of old. 8 And if you should ask them, Who created the heavens and the earth? they would most certainly say: The Mighty, the Knowing One, has created them; 9 Who has made for you the earth like a bed, and has made for you roads therein, in order that you may find your way, 10 And who sends down rain from the sky in measured amounts, and We revive thereby a dead land - thus will you be brought forth - 11 And who created the species, all of them, and has made for you of ships and animals those which you mount. 12 That ye may mount upon their backs, and may remember your Lord's favour when ye mount thereon, and may say: Glorified be He Who hath subdued these unto us, and we were not capable (of subduing them); 13 "And to our Lord, surely, must we turn back!" 14 Yet they have made some of His servants a part of Him. Indeed man is most evidently thankless. 15
