He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ (The Prophet) frowned and turned away, 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 And what could let you know? Perhaps he (comes to hear you) to be purified. 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and the teaching might profit him? 4 As for he who thinks himself without need, 5 to him didst thou give thy whole attention, 6 though you will not be questioned even if he never purifies himself. 7 but as for him who came unto thee full of eagerness 8 and who has fear of God, 9 you ignore him. 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 So whoever wills may remember it. 12 On honourable pages. 13 exalted and purified, 14 (Written) by the hands of scribes- 15 Noble, virtuous. 16 May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? 17 From what substance did He create him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 Then He causes him to die and be buried. 21 and then, whenever He wishes, He will raise him back to life. 22 Nay; but he has not done what He bade him. 23 Let man, then, consider [the sources of] his food: 24 [how it is] that We pour down water, pouring it down abundantly; 25 Then split the earth in clefts 26 Thereby produced grain in it. 27 grapes, and fresh fodder, 28 olives, dates, 29 Orchards thick with trees, 30 and fruits and herbage, 31 (These are made so as to be) means of enjoyment for you and your cattle. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 That Day shall a man flee from his brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 for on that day everyone will be completely engrossed in his own concerns. 37 on that Day some faces will be beaming, 38 Laughing, joyous. 39 Some faces on that Day shall be dust-ridden, 40 Dust shall cover them 41 these, these will be the ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity! 42
