The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness] 1 The stars turn dim and scatter, 2 When the mountains vanish (like a mirage); 3 And when the camels big with young are abandoned, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together, 5 and when the seas are set on fire, 6 when the souls shall be coupled, 7 And when the girl-child who was buried alive is asked. 8 For what crime she was put to death; 9 when the scrolls shall be unrolled, 10 and when heaven is laid bare, 11 and when the blazing fire [of hell] is kindled bright, 12 and Paradise brought nigh: 13 (Then) every soul will know what it hath made ready. 14 I swear by the receding stars, 15 That run their course (and) hide themselves, 16 and the night as it darkly falls, 17 and brightening morning, 18 Verily, this is the Word (this Quran brought by) a most honourable messenger [Jibrael (Gabriel), from Allah to the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him)]. 19 The processor of strength, having an honorable place with the Lord of the Dominion, 20 (One) to be obeyed, and trustworthy; 21 Your companion is not possessed; 22 he truly beheld [the angel - beheld] him on the clear horizon; 23 And Muhammad is not a withholder of [knowledge of] the unseen. 24 Nor is this the word of an outcast devil. 25 where then are you going? 26 That is but an advice to the entire creation! 27 So let those who want, choose the right guidance 28 but you shall not, unless Allah wills, the Lord of all the Worlds. 29
