The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 in obedience to the commands of their Lord which are incumbent on them, 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 and casts out all that is within and voids itself, 4 obeying its Lord, as it must do! 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 Whoever is given the Record in his right hand 7 Soon will his account be taken by an easy reckoning, 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 but as for him whose record shall be given to him from behind his back, 10 he shall call for destruction 11 And be thrown to scorching fire. 12 He used to be happy with his own people; 13 Truly, did he think that he would not have to return (to Us)! 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 But nay! I swear by the sunset redness, 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 And the moon when at the full, 18 you shall surely ride stage after stage. 19 What then is the matter with them, that they believe not?- 20 and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Nay, but the unbelievers are crying lies, 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 But those who believe and work righteous works, theirs shall be a hire unending. 25
