The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
I swear by the star when it goes down. 1 your companion is not in error nor has he gone astray. 2 and neither does he speak out of his own desire: 3 It is naught but revelation that is revealed, 4 Taught to him by one intense in strength - 5 The Lord of Strength; so he attained completion, 6 appearing in the horizon's loftiest part, 7 Thereafter he drew nigh, then he let himself down. 8 until he was as close to him as the distance of two bows, or even less. 9 And he revealed to His Servant what he revealed. 10 The heart was not untrue in (making him see) what he saw. 11 What, will you dispute with him about what he sees! 12 He saw Him indeed another time 13 At the Lote Tree of the Utmost Boundary - 14 near which is Paradise. 15 When the tree was covered with a covering, 16 His eye did not waver, nor did it stray, 17 and he certainly saw some of the greatest Signs of His Lord. 18 Have you then considered Al-Lat, and Al-'Uzza (two idols of the pagan Arabs). 19 And Manat, the other third (of the pagan deities)? 20 What, have you males, and He females! 21 That were indeed an unjust division. 22 They are nothing but some names that you have coined, you and your forefathers – Allah has not sent any proof for them; they follow only guesses and their own desires; whereas the guidance from their Lord has come to them. 23 Can ever man get what he desires? 24 Allah's is the last and the first. 25
