The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
A caller supplicated about a punishment to fall on 1 Upon the disbelievers, which none can avert, 2 From Allah, the Lord of all pinnacles. 3 To Him ascend the angels and the Spirit in a day the measure of which is fifty thousand years. 4 Therefore be patient, with a beautiful patience; 5 they see it as being far off; 6 but, We see it as near! 7 The day the sky becomes like molten brass, 8 The mountains like the tufts of (carded) wool, 9 and no friend will ask about his friend, 10 though they may be in one another's sight: [for,] everyone who was lost in sin will on that Day but desire to ransom himself from suffering at the price of his own children, 11 And his wife and his brother 12 and his kinsfolk who had stood by him, 13 And all who are on the earth; so that this might deliver him. 14 No! Indeed, it is the Flame [of Hell], 15 Dragging by the head, 16 It calleth him who turned and fled (from truth), 17 And collect (wealth) and hide it (from spending it in the Cause of Allah). 18 ۞ Indeed man is created very impatient, greedy. 19 Fretful when evil befalleth him 20 And niggardly when good touches him; 21 save those that pray 22 and constant in their prayers. 23 And those in whose wealth there is a fixed portion. 24 for those that ask and those that are dispossessed, 25 and who accept as true the [coming of the] Day of Judgment; 26 And those who are fearful of their Lord's torment 27 for none is secure from the punishment of their Lord, 28 And those who of their private parts are guards. 29 except from their wives and what their right hands own, for these they are not blameworthy. 30 but those who go beyond that limit are transgressors; 31 and those who are faithful to their trusts and to their pledges; 32 and those who stand by their testimony 33 And those who keep a guard on their prayer, 34 Those shall be in Gardens, high-honoured. 35
